Red Spotted Jezebel

Our good friends G and J stayed with us for a few days this weekend.  And we were super lucky to have some glorious weather.  The hottest it got one day was just 25 degrees and there was a lovely cool breeze for most of the day.  Which meant, of course, that we spent a great deal of time just sitting on the front verandah, soaking up the scenery, listening to the cicadas and watching the birdlife.  And I'm so glad we did because we saw a red spotted jezebel butterfly.

What a beauty huh.

We did motivate ourselves off the couch at one point for a wander through the forest.  J spotted an eagle, just above the tree line.  We were able to watch it, just circling around, looking for some prey or maybe checking us out, for a good five to ten minutes. Such a rare thing and so delightful to see.

What a fab weekend!!

How Excited Were We....

How excited were we when we saw this beauty.  Initially it was sitting in our fig tree but moved into the nearby wattles when we arrived.   ...
